Hello folks..its been a great year for me but i was too much stranded with work that i was keeping myself off from the blog world…i missed it so much…It was dead of the night when we started for our long overdue vacation. After a tiring day at work we just wanted to stretch our legs in the flight and go into deep slumber but alas it was not very much possible on this short flight. We were flying to our destination Amsterdam from Kuwait via Istanbul. We chose Atlas Global airlines for our journey after reading the reviews and it was not bad at all. The timings, the food and the service was taken care of well. We reached Istanbul early morning. The weather was pleasant and misty was a welcoming change from the dusty Kuwait air.
We were pretty excited to break our alcohol vow n indulge in some turkiya tap beer ,Efes…at Sabiha Airport. It was refreshing change and made us look forward to this trip more. After a short halt in the lounge we headed to board the flight to Amsterdam.
Reaching Amsterdam we kinda experienced the weekend hustle bustle with long queues in immigration. But the waiting were deemed shorter coz of our excitement to experience this much talked about nether city.
We got the Amsterdam pass to travel in trains, trams and bus like locals from the airport itself. It was a good thing coz we could get down and up anywhere with just punching the card. We hopped onto the train to Amsterdam Central station from where we had our reservations with AirBnB host which was kinda a block away. This home was really block away from all major attractions in Amsterdam. Talking about the place it was dutch style canal overlooking flat at 2nd floor with a spiral staircase(which one needs to take care when they are oozy woozy).Well furnished place with clean linen and a welcoming host, that’s all one need after a day of travel.
We didn’t waste much of time lazing around …it was breezy evening we headed to the epic bull dog coffee shop to cherish the forbidden…it was rightly said that no one visits Amsterdam coffee shops for coffee.. the rates are almost same everywhere but a lot of people gave us the reference to try the Marley way…the canals, the breeze and the fumes was intoxicating. We took the walking tour around the centrum with people chilling at the central plaza and entertaining themselves with activities. We walked through the niewmarkt with its Chinese restaurants and sovenier shops, the centrum with its cobble stoned pathways and archaic buildings, the central station lit up and ever busy with the crowd. The dam square and the ring of canals all glittering in the city lights.
We headed to satiate our taste buds with some meat ballen and some fresh tap beer in the famous In de wildemann, where the locals come. We had amazing bubbly refreshing beer I liked the trappist and the guiness ones the most..but I tried it all… to call it a night we headed back to dam square grabbed shots of Jagermeister and went off to sleep.
There is so much more to share from my Amsterdam trip..keep on following my blog and our photography page Tripsography on facebook for more updates…
